Trump Offers To Mediate Again On Kashmir As India-Pakistan Set To Battle At UNHRC

The US President has once again offered to mediate between India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions between the two neighbouring countries. This is the third time Donald Trump has offered a US-led mediation over the present state of Kashmir conflict.

While talking to reporters at the White House, the US President said that he is willing to help India and Pakistan if they want and the offer from the US to mediate a diplomatic engagement is still out there.

This offer to mediate comes despite the fact that India on multiple occasions has turned down the offer to have any third party intervention to a bilateral issue. The two Asian neighbours are at odds with each other over the abrogation of Article 370 that granted special provisions to Indian administered Kashmir.

Pakistan has raised the issue at various international platforms but has failed to mobilise any international support against India’s decisions pertaining to Kashmir.

Kashmir to echo during the 42nd UNHRC meeting?

India and Pakistan are set to battle each other over the Kashmir issue during the ongoing UN Human Rights Council session. Both the nations have deployed their best diplomats for this intriguing battle.

Even the international community has expressed concerns over the restrictions imposed in Kashmir and the detention of local leaders. How bravely will India put forth its stance at the UNHRC will define the doctrine of India’s foreign policy from here on.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Pakistan Foreign Minister too is on a three-day visit to Geneva to step up the efforts to draw international focus to Kashmir and hold Modi Government accountable for its action in front of the international community.
