US-India Relations to Strengthen with Visit of Pompeo and Mattis in September

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Pentagon Chief James Mattis will conclude various bilateral agreements with India during their upcoming visit to New Delhi in September. This was announced by the US Secretary of Defense on Tuesday.

“I and Secretary of State Pompeo will visit New Delhi, we will meet with our colleagues there, our task is to ensure the extension of the partnership between the two largest democracies in the world, which is increasingly being strengthened,”.

We want to make sure that we work together on issues where we have common interests, and we will complete the preparation of a number of agreements that will facilitate such a partnership,” Mattis added.

As the first deputy assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs, Alice Wells, reported earlier, the US administration is determined to try to take relations with the India to a new level during the visit of Pompeo and Mattis, which will cover not only the purchase and sale of military equipment , but also to set the framework for how Washington and New Delhi will jointly respond to emerging challenges.
