Four Israeli soldiers were gravely injured when they were booby-trapped by rebels. The military wing of Gaza’s Popular Resistance Committees released a video of an attack on Israeli soldiers involving a booby-trapped flag that injured four. The al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades released the video of the operation which took place in February, declaring it was in response to Israeli war crimes and Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The video footage shows Israeli soldiers approaching the explosive device disguised as a Palestinian flag which had been fixed on the border fence near the city of Khan Younis. The bomb then explodes off sending the troops flying and gravely injuring the troops.
The incident provoked the Israeli military at the time to launch airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, killing two 17-year-olds. The footage was revealed amid the worst escalation between Israel and Gaza since 2014.
Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza declared an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire with Israel on Tuesday. Israel said the clandestine operation was an intelligence-gathering mission, but its timing has raised questions since advancement had been made in recent weeks toward ending months of the crisis along the Gaza-Israel border.
