Indian, US Soldiers Dance On Punjabi Numbers During ‘Yudh Abhyas’; Video Goes Absolutely Viral: Watch

A video of Indian and US soldiers dancing on Punjabi songs has gone viral on the internet. The video was shot during the ongoing ‘Yudh Abhyas’ military exercise in Rajasthan highlighting the ‘people-to-people ties’ between the two militaries.

The 38-second video was shot during the Basant Panchami celebrations earlier this week. It was first shared by the official Twitter handle of a brigade combat team, ‘Ghost Brigade’. The Twitter post read: “Happy #BasantPanchami to our Indian friends & partners!

Thanks to our gracious hosts from the #[email protected], 11th Battalion Jammu And Kashmir Rifles, for inviting us to this beautiful celebration during #YudhAbhyas.”

In the video, the US soldiers dressed in traditional Indian outfit ‘kurta’ can be seen dancing along with the Indian soldiers on a popular Punjabi song by Sharry Mann.

The video was also shared by the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. The SCA highlighted in its post how “US-India defense cooperation is not just about increased interoperability but also stronger people-to-people ties”.

The ongoing military exercise between the 11th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles from the Indian Army and 2nd battalion troops, 3rd Infantry Regiment of 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team from the US Army began on February 8.

The bilateral training exercise being held at the Foreign Training Node at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan will conclude on February 21. The military exercise being conducted near the India-Pakistan border is aimed at enhancing the interoperability and cooperation between the two armies.

Emphasizing the importance of holding military drills with the US Army, India’s defense spokesperson Lt Col Amitabh Sharma had said the exercise is significant in terms of the security challenges faced by both India and the US in the backdrop of global terrorism.

He also said that exercise assumes significance in the backdrop of recent developments on northern borders, and conveys the strategic posture of the two nations as well as an upward trajectory in the India-US relations

In 2020, Indian and the US armed forces had held naval exercises along with Australia and Japan. The prime aim of the India-US military ties is to strengthen the US’ Indo-Pacific policy aimed at countering China’s growing influence in the region.
