As Expected; Heavy Cross-Border Shelling Erupts Between Indian & Pakistani Troops In Kashmir

After the killing of five Indian soldiers including two senior officials in Handwara, Jammu and Kashmir, netizens started demanding a prompt retaliation against Pakistan and cross-border has already started.

Experts talking to the EurAsian Times had earlier stated that the Indian armed forces would have to continue punishing Pakistan-backed militants with precise, ruthless cross border shellings on terror launch pads with the latest, state-of-art artillery guns.

Now reports have emerged that India and Pakistan have been engaged in heavy cross border shelling in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.

A tweet from IANS stated that – Heavy firing and shelling started on Monday between Indian and Pakistan army on the line of control (LoC) in J&K’s Baramulla district.

As EurAsian Times reported earlier today, in Handwara, North Kashmir, 5 Indian Army personnel including a Colonel, Major, along with 2 army soldiers and a sub-inspector of Jammu and Kashmir police were killed in an overnight encounter.

According to reports, Colonel Ashutosh Sharma (21 RR), Major Anuj Sood (21 RR), a Lance Naik Dinesh (21 RR), Nail Rajesh (21 RR) and police sub-inspector Shakeel Qazi were killed in the Handwara encounter raging since Saturday. Their bodies have been recovered from the encounter site.

Indian PM Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to the killed soldiers and tweeted: Tributes to our courageous soldiers and security personnel martyred in Handwara. Their valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. They served the nation with utmost dedication and worked tirelessly to protect our citizens. Condolences to their families and friends.

Indian defence minister – Rajnath Singh condemned the attack and tweeted: The loss of our soldiers and security personnel in Handwara(J&K) is deeply disturbing and painful. They showed exemplary courage in their fight against the terrorists and made supreme sacrifice while serving the country. We will never forget their bravery and sacrifice.
