After BRICS and SCO, Now RIC on Agenda During Putin-Modi Meeting?

After BRICS and SCO, is RIC (Russia, India, China) a topic of discussion between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian PM Narendra Modi? Both leaders are set to sign a major political document during their meeting in October, as per Russia’s Ambassador in New Delhi Nikolai Kudryashov.

According to the diplomat, the document will be in the form of a joint declaration or statement. “We hope that a major political document will be adopted and published. We will cherish our common views on global development, international law, multipolarity, political solutions to crises and non-application of sanctions, except those passed by the United Nations Security Council,” the ambassador said.

The document which will be signed between Modi and Putin will reflect the two countries’ interest in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS (comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and RIC (comprising Russia, India and China), he added.

The Russian president is expected to arrive in India on 4th October 2018 as per India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, however, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not specify an exact date.
