“According to the vote by the Iranian lawmakers, all members of the Pentagon, the affiliated institutions and companies, and the U.S. commanders who planned and perpetrated assassination” of Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), are blacklisted, the report said.

The project is an amendment to the law passed in Iran last April, under which the Central Command (CENTCOM) of the US Armed Forces was recognized as a terrorist organization. According to the resolution, “all US forces in the Middle East are terrorists, and the US government is the sponsor of terrorism.” The law was passed in response to a decision by US President Donald Trump on April 8 to include the IRGC in the list of foreign terrorist organizations.

The actions of the Americans, who have been attacking Shiite groups in Iraq since December 29, have criticized the Iraqi authorities and the legitimacy of the actions of the coalition led by Washington. On January 5, the Iraqi parliament adopted a resolution demanding the complete withdrawal of all foreign troops from the country. US President Donald Trump refused to do so, threatening Iraq with “unprecedented sanctions.”

The United States assassinated Major General Qassem Soleimani, the head of the elite Quds force who spearheaded Iran’s military influence in the Middle East. The US labelled Soleimani as terrorists who also authorized the siege of the US embassy in Baghdad.

After the attack, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council vowed: “severe revenge” on those involved in the killing of Soleimani, blaming the US for the attack. In a telephone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif slammed the attack as an act of terrorism by the US.

Donald Trump vowed to hit Iranian military targets if Tehran “strikes any Americans or American assets.” “We have … targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture” and “if Iran strikes any Americans or American assets… Iran itself WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets.
