Kulgam Encounter: 3 Militants, 1 Soldier Killed in Kashmir’s Kulgam and Pulwama

Kulgam and Pulwama Encounter: Three unidentified militants and a soldier were killed while two jawans were injured in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam and Pulwama districts on Tuesday, police said.

Kulgam Encounter: Today on Tuesday, November 27th, one soldier and two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kulgam and Pulwama. The gunbattle started after militants fired upon a team of Army personnel and other forces who were conducting a cordon and search operation (CASO).  The incident occurred in Kulgam’s Redwani area, as per agency reports.

The Kulgam encounter lasted for five hours in which two militants who were hiding in a house were shot dead. Meanwhile, another encounter has started between security forces and terrorists at Hafoo area of Tral in Pulwama. The area has been cordoned off. A militant is reportedly hiding in one of the houses in the area.

Earlier on Sunday, six militants were gunned down in an encounter with security forces that began on early Sunday morning in the Kapran Batagund area of Shopian district.

Four out of six militants that were killed belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen and two belonged to the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Both the district commanders of Hizbul and Lashkar were killed in the encounter, security forces confirmed.

The slain terrorists were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Abbas Bhatt, Umar Majeed Ganaie, Mohd Waseem Wagay, Khalid Farooq Mali and one terrorist is believed to be of Pakistani origin. One soldier was also martyred in the operation.
