Naveed Jutt – Killer of Shujaat Bukhari Gunned Down in Budgam, Kashmir

Naveed Jatt / Jutt, an LeT militant of Pakistani origin, had escaped from the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) in Srinagar this February.

Naveed Jatt / Jutt – the LeT terrorists accused of murdering journalist Shujaat Bukhari, was killed in a gunfight with Indian security forces on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, along with an accomplice.

Naveed Jatt / Jutt, an LeT militant of Pakistani origin, had escaped from the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) in Srinagar this February. Jatt was active in south Kashmir, the hotbed of violence, and involved in multiple attacks between before he fled from the hospital.

The son of a truck driver from Multan, Jatt was active in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian districts. According to police records, he was arrested on September 19, 2014, in Sempora Bijbehara in Anantnag and was lodged in Srinagar’s Rainawari jail after being charged with murder and attempt to murder.

A cordon and search operation was launched following a specific information about the presence of militants in Kuthpora village. As the security forces were closing in on the hiding terrorists, they fired starting the encounter, a police officer said.

Earlier, as EurAsian Times reported, J&K Police claims to have identified the three militants, including Naveed Jutt, who killed Kashmiri Journalist Shujaat Bukhari. Naveed Jutt is the same militant who was lodged in the Srinagar Central Jail and later escaped in lieu of medical treatment from SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. Jutt arrived in Kashmir Valley in 2012 along with Abu Qasim and Abu Dujana.
