Naxal Attack in Maharashtra: After Soldiers, Over 522 ‘Police Informers’ Killed By Naxals: Reports

The recent Naxal Attack in Maharashtra left 15 soldiers dead where their bus was hit by an IED device. The growing Naxal attacks in the country has perturbed the government and with the latest news that Naxals have killed 522 people in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district after incorrectly accusing them of being police informers.

Kashmiri Netizens Question Why No Media War on Killing of 4 BSF Soldiers in Chhattisgarh?

In a statement, Gadchiroli police said a man found dead on Monday morning in Jambhiya Gatta in the district’s Ettapali tehsil, identified as Shishir Mandal (42), was not a police informer.

It said Mandal, a native of Chhattisgarh’s Bande area, used to “regularly help” the Naxals and was killed due to a “financial conflict” with the latter. Mandal was found dead around 9am on Adenge Road with a gun shot wound on his head.

“Naxals are misleading people by accusing some to be police informers. In this way, Naxals have killed 522 innocent people,” the Gadchiroli police statement said. The police statement, however, did not give details of the time period during which these people were killed.

“There is a sense that pulling out few companies may have led to a thinning security cover in the Maoist belt. Besides the 5,500 men of the Gadchiroli police — the anti-Naxal operations have been getting assistance from 30 companies of the CRPF and 16 of the SRPF as part a tight security grid around the Maoist zone which primarily includes most of Gadchiroli and some parts of Chandrapur and Gondia.

“While we did send our companies to West Bengal, the State also received assistance from forces of Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh among others. The deployment of SRPF was on a give and take basis,” said a senior police official.
