Pakistan Calls Bangladesh For Support On Kashmir; Dhaka Says Solve it Bilaterally

Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, AK Abdul Momen urged India and Pakistan to solve the Kashmir issue through dialogue and discussions. The Bangladeshi minister had a telephonic conversation with his Pakistani counterpart and put forth his opinion about resolving the Kashmir conflict through bilateral reconciliations.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister reached out to Dhaka as a part of a larger plan to internationalise the Kashmir issue to bring back the focus of the international community to apparent human rights violations in Kashmir inflicted by the Indian forces.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi called up his Bangladeshi counterpart and complained about Indian unilateral actions in Jammu and Kashmir which were in violation of various international laws and UNSC resolutions.

Bangladesh had made itself clear earlier that the Indian move in Kashmir is an internal matter and even now Dhaka reiterated that its a bilateral issue which must be resolved by dialogue between India and Pakistan.

Most of the SAARC nations including Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal too have maintained the stand that Kashmir is an internal matter for India and hence the moves do not require any international intervention.

Pakistan Sets Up Kashmir Cell

In order to bring a larger momentum to internationalising the Kashmir issue after the recent moves by India, Pakistan has announced setting up of a new cell. The foreign office of Pakistan on Tuesday inaugurated its new Kashmir Cell so as to garner international attention on Kashmir in a more effective manner.

The plan is to defame India by highlighting restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of special provision which Kashmir had enjoyed ever since its accession to India.

Pakistan has opened all fronts against India to express discord to the decisions taken by the government of India but has found little encouragement and support from the international community.

Pakistan’s foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced that the Kashmir cell set up by the foreign office will be open 24 hours a day as good results are expected from this move so as to bring international attention to the Kashmir issue.
