Pakistan has all data to prove that former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav is guilty of spying. Pakistan’s legal team will present its stand in the case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the 19th of this month.
In April 2017, Indian Naval Officier, Kulbhushan Jadhav was convicted on charges of spying by a military court in Pakistan. India replied to the verdict by shifting Jadhav case to the International Court of Justice The ICJ has put the stay on Jadhav’s death penalty.
India and Pakistan have provided the relevant details and surrendered the case for the final verdict with the International Court of Justice. The ICJ will hear Jadhav’s case from February 18-21, 2019.
India has rejected all the charges framed against Jadhav who was detained from Iran where he travelled for a business meeting, after his retirement from the Indian Navy. Hence, he seems to have no connection with the Indian government.
India has blamed Pakistan for violation of the Vienna Convention as it didn’t offer consular entrance to Jadhav. In reply, Pakistan in its counter-memorial informed ICJ that 1963, Vienna Convention on Consular Relations is only applicable to legitimate visitors not for secret operations. India has opposed the trial of Jadhav by a Pakistani military court.
Pakistani Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said: “Pakistan has all the evidence against Jadhav of sabotage activities. Pakistan’s legal team will present its stance in the case at the Hague on the 19th of this month.”
“Pakistan’s legal team will present its stance in the case that the Indian spy has already confessed of being involved in terrorist activities carried out in Pakistan,” Qureshi added.
Pakistani forces arrested Jadhav from the Balochistan province in March 2016 after he gained access to Pakistan via Iran. Pakistan’s statement in ICJ declared that Jadhav is not an ordinary person as he got access in the country with the motive of spying.
