Pakistan Evacuates All Chinese Nationals In Border Areas After Aggressive Indian Firing

Pakistani government have evacuated more than 50 Chinese nationals working near the Jammu and Kashmir border, authorities said Wednesday. The reason for the evacuation of Chinese citizens, according to Islamabad, is the unprovoked firing by the Indian Army.

The Chinese were working on a dam being constructed in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir / Azad Jammu and Kashmir along the confluence of the Neelam and Jhelum rivers when firing along the LoC pushed authorities to move the workers late Tuesday, according to Akhtar Ayub from the local disaster management authority.

Another local official Raja Shahid Mahmood said the decision was made after Indian security forces fired a volley of indiscriminate fire that martyred a civilian.

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had earlier condemned a recent ceasefire violation by Indian Army which resulted in the deaths of two civilians in different villages in Pakistani Kashmir, saying that the extended frequency of attacks indicates their [New Delhi’s] frustration.

In a tweet posted on ISPR’s official Twitter account, director-general of the army’s media wing Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said ceasefire violations by the Indian forces “are being and shall always be effectively responded”.

Earlier, Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat had tough words for Pakistan during the 20th-anniversary ceremony of India’s victory in the Kargil War. The Army Chief asserted that India has the claim over the entirety of Jammu and Kashmir. He maintained that reclaiming the region is entirely a political decision and that the Army will follow the orders.
