Threatened by Russia, NATO Pushes for Military Schengen Zone

The creation of so-called “Military Schengen” Zone, proposed to fasten the transportation of NATO forces to the Russian borders has become a new priority for NATO. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Colonel-General Alexander Fomin.

The Deputy Minister of Russia stated that for the accelerated deployment of additional NATO troops in different parts of Europe, weapons, munitions and other key resources is being worked upon. Now the nations that NATO is beefing up its presence are Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria and Slovakia.

Is Russia Really Challenging NATO?

Russia is attempting a change in the world order, splitting the NATO, and weakening the US clout in order to bully its neighbours and expand its influence around the world. These statements were made recently by the commander-in-chief of NATO in Europe, General Curtis Scaparrotti.

“Russia is working hard to change the world order, divide NATO and undermine US leadership in order to defend its regime. Russia aspired to maintain dominance over its neighbours, and to achieve greater control around the world.” To achieve these goals, the Kremlin is ruthlessly using its defence power, said the NATO commander.

In his view, “Russia has displayed the willingness and capability to meddle in countries on its border and project force, especially in the Middle East.” “Russia brazenly uses social networks and other means of mass communications to spread disinformation, test the determination of the US and impair the credibility of the European partners, said the NATO commander.
